Rev up a powder room with a powerful custom art print, highlight an accent wall with a striking pattern, or create a sense of surprise inside a closet. Those who aren’t comfortable with commitment can treat wallpaper like art. The bold pattern pictured here, Pucker Up Buttercup from Ashford House, is made in Pennsylvania by York Wallcoverings. The interpretation is an easy DIY project. The paper is mounted on artist’s board and framed with decorative molding to make a statement that will stop people in their tracks. Even better, the whole setup is completely mobile.

Batteries can get to be a very expensive proposition if you are buying normal throwaway units each time. Especially if whatever you use them in is something like a video game controller that gets lots of use. Rechargeable batteries have been around for decades as a cheaper alternative to throw away batteries, but normal rechargeable batteries have their own quirks. A new type of rechargeable battery has turned up on Kickstarter seeking funding that charges via a LG 18650 USB port rather than a big charger that plugs into the wall.

A little of our history. . .

The orchestra was founded under the guiding vision of Dr. Philip Schaus in 1978, when enthusiastic local musicians united to form a symphony orchestra.

A year later the local choral society joined with the orchestra as the newly-constituted Northumberland Philharmonic Choir.

Throughout its history, the NOC has included and encouraged young local musicians, many of whom are now pursuing professional musical careers.

It also presents the annual Foote Music Scholarship Award to a promising young musician.

Music Director, Matthew Jaskiewicz, with us from 1990 to 2007 contributed greatly toward our members' musical growth, ensuring professional section leaders to smooth the path for orchestra members.
